Affiliate Marketing: The Basics

If you have ever heard of affiliate marketing, you might think that it is just a buzz word for getting people who watch late night infomercials to open up their wallets. And while it does inevitably serve that purpose, there are actually a lot of people out there who are making money through this form of marketing. Simply put, an affiliate marketer is a person who builds a website, an email list and generates a loyal following in a particular niche. Then, once they have a decent group of people who believe what they say and trust in their expertise, they begin to offer these people products which other people have produced, and then share in the proceeds of the resulting sales this effort produces.

Granted, not every affiliate marketer does especially well. You do have to be a fairly good salesperson, and have something useful and helpful to give people (especially while you are building your list) if you want to be at all successful with affiliate marketing. Of course, there many different websites you can go to if you want to get involved with affiliate marketing, and there are a lot of different people that you can get in contact with to start up your affiliate marketing career. You can look for people on Pay Dotcom, or go to Feedburner and find affiliates who have large lists, then find out how they have reached their current levels of success.

However, you can also get started through going doing a basic affiliate review, and finding out who has the most successful products. You can either design your own product, or market someone else’s product. There have been some very successful people who got that way through practicing both of these options. And some people have even made their fortunes by both creating and marketing their products, even though that is the hardest way to do it. And everybody can use some help sometimes.
