In your business practice one of the key aspects of success is the image of your business. The image of your business is what will draw or discourage consumers from approaching you, and then purchasing your product. Without an image that draws in your consumers or clients the opportunity to sell your product or provide your service will never happen.

When referring to image, the intent is not to mislead your customers or clients, in fact the very opposite is true. When creating your image the most important thing is to extend yourself in an honest and open way that generates interest from your customers.

Ask yourself these questions:
-What is the product or service I am selling?
-Why does the customer need this particular service?
-What aspects of the product or service are of most interest to my target customer?
-Is my product focused on a particular demographic or economic class?
-Who is my customer?

In answering these questions one can begin to see the outline of your businesses Image. If one is trying to sell electronic PDAs to upper middle class, white collar managers, this image is different that trying to sell MP3 players to teenagers. In the first example, an image of business, efficiency, and adaptability may be of importance to my companies image. If I am selling MP3s to teenagers at the mall, my image may be one of trendy, fast passed, and “cool”.

The most important aspect to ones image is to remember that most people want to buy a product or service from what they know. If your intent is to sell to people just like you then your image may be easy to come up with but developing your own signature may be where you focus your energy. The marketplace is competitive, if your intent is to be successful, customers need to know who you are, a strong display of your image will go a long way.
